All 'Cubi belong to a Clan, whether they know it or not. The clan they belong to will influence which emotions they can readily absorb, and has a symbol associated with it which will appear somewhere upon their body as their magical proficiency increases.
What little we know of this clan comes from Fo's reference to them in Abel's Story Part 2, where it compares Aniz to them, with the comment that they are infamous for kidnapping children as part of their clan's modus operandi. In addition, Amber has graciously provided a brief rundown of the clan in the DMFA forum.
Que'tnar members have an affinity for despair and gratitude as their preferred 'food'. This is considered unusual since clans usually have an affinity for related emotions.
Beliefs and LifestyleEdit
Que'tnar members thrive on despair and gratitude, an emotion which they traditionally obtain by removing children from their parents. This generally manifests in two ways, depending on a given member's conscience.
The more moral members will tend to work in childcare, specifically removing children from broken homes and placing them into foster care, a particularly rewarding endeavour, not least because it provides both emotions in one go.
Most members, however, will simply resort to kidnapping Being infants and placing them in the care of a young couple sufficiently desperate for a child of their own.
In both cases, Que'tnar members will tend to view children as a means to induce emotions from their (foster) parents. It is partly due to this cavalier attitude to Being children, that the members will forsake their own young, leaving them in the care of other clans or nannies and generally regarding them as a necessity to maintain clan numbers rather than an individual to be loved and cherished for their own sake.
